We are seeking a ServiceNow CMDB Manager who will be responsible for overseeing the Configuration Management Database (CMDB), ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data related to IT infrastructure components, by defining the CMDB structure, managing data governance, implementing data collection processes, and collaborating with various IT teams to maintain accurate information about configuration items (CIs) and their relationships, ultimately supporting efficient service management and incident resolution within an organization.

Key responsibilities:

  • CMDB Design and Governance:
  • Define the scope, objectives, and policies of the ServiceNow CMDB.
  • Establish the structure of the CMDB, including identifying relevant CIs, defining attributes, and creating relationships between them.
  • Implement data governance practices to maintain data quality and integrity.
  • Set standards for naming conventions and data entry.
  • Data Management and Collection:
  • Oversee data discovery and import processes to populate the ServiceNow CMDB with accurate information about IT assets.
  • Manage data cleansing activities to eliminate duplicate entries and inconsistencies.
  • Implement data validation procedures to ensure the accuracy of information within the ServiceNow CMDB.
  • Monitor data quality and identify areas for improvement.
  • Change Management Integration:
  • Collaborate with the change management team to ensure changes to configuration items are accurately reflected in the ServiceNow CMDB.
  • Coordinate updates to the ServiceNow CMDB when new hardware, software, or systems are deployed.
  • Reporting and Analysis:
  • Develop reports and dashboards to provide insights into IT infrastructure and service dependencies based on ServiceNow CMDB data.
  • Analyze CMDB data to identify potential risks and proactively address issues.
  • Provide data-driven decision support to IT operations teams.
  • Stakeholder Management:
  • Collaborate with various IT teams (network, server, application) to ensure accurate information is captured in the ServiceNow CMDB.
  • Train users on ServiceNow CMDB processes and data entry procedures.
  • Communicate the value of the CMDB to key stakeholders and promote its usage.
  • Required Skills:
  • ServiceNow CMDB & CSMD Certifications preferred
  • ServiceNow ITOM experience (with focus on Discovery, CMDB and CSDM) with 3
  • Strong understanding of IT infrastructure components, including hardware, software, network devices, and applications.
  • Expertise in IT Service Management (ITSM) frameworks like ITIL
  • Proficiency with CMDB tools and ServiceNow platform
  • Data analysis and reporting skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Project management skills to manage CMDB implementation and maintenance initiatives
  • BS/BA degree in Business, Information Systems or Computer Science or related discipline and/or a minimum of 5 years related work experience
